The full branding of the, ‘International Biodiversity Day at AUB’ (IBDAA) a nationwide event funded by the United Nation Environment Programme. IBDAA is an annual environmental ideation poster competition, an initiative by the Nature Conservation Center at the American University of Beirut.

For this project I was assigned the mission of branding and fully coordinating the event. The branding of IBDAA takes on a playful approach with the use of both Latin and Arabic typography that merge together to form the word ‘IBDAA’. The idea stems from ‘Ibdaa’ originally being an Arabic word that translates to ‘creativity and innovation’. This is what the competition is exactly about, students using their creativity and problem-solving skills to come up with innovative solutions to environmental problems. The branding is also composed of bright colours that reflect the playful and creative nature of the competition. This is paired with various illustrations that are chosen each year depending on the theme of the competition. The theme for example for 2018 was SDG11: “Sustainable Cities and Communities”.
